Thoughtful Soccer Bulletin

This website is in the process of being updated and revised. It will have an entirely different, user-friendly, eye appealing look. You'll find all the important stuff you need now, but please check back in a few weeks as well!

The Sample Chapter has been changed. It is now Chapter 6: Practicing Possession. This chapter provides the Bunchball Cure, plus several advanced scrimmages.

Chapter 14 of the book Thoughtful Soccer: the Think-First Approach to Playing and Coaching proved controversial due primarily to misunderstandings about the Triangle Three defensive system. Russ has now broken that chapter into two different chapters posted here: The System Side of Defense and Defensive Systems: a Detailed Example.

Russ has had a second article, "The Case for Multiple-Themed Practices", published by the NSCAA's Soccer Journal. Check out the article inside.
